MEK1 (MAP2K1) is a dual-specificity protein kinase positioned in the RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK signal transduction cascade, where it phosphorylates ERK1 and ERK2 on threonine and tyrosine residues to relay mitogenic and stress cues into changes in proliferation, differentiation, and cell survival.

This Antibodies.com reagent is a rabbit polyclonal antibody raised against the P293 epitope of human MEK1, supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2. The 100 µl vial supports multiple western blot and immunohistochemistry runs. The antibody is unconjugated, allowing laboratories to pair it with their own secondary detection chemistry, and the polyclonal format gives multi-epitope recognition of the target.

Validated applications include Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) on human, mouse, and rat samples. In WB, the reagent is used to monitor total MEK1 protein levels in cell and tissue lysates and, alongside phospho-specific antibodies, to characterize MAPK pathway activation status. In IHC, it localizes endogenous MEK1 distribution in fixed tissue sections, supporting oncology, neurobiology, and signal transduction research where the MAPK cascade is of interest.
