From Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal antibody targets MEK-1, also called MAP2K1, a dual-specificity protein kinase in the conserved RAF/MEK/ERK mitogen-activated protein kinase cascade. The reagent is supplied unconjugated in a 100 µl vial and has been validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA applications, with reactivity confirmed against human, mouse, and rat samples.

MEK-1 catalyses phosphorylation of both threonine and tyrosine residues on ERK1/2 (MAPK3/MAPK1), placing it at a pivotal signalling node for cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. Researchers use this antibody to probe pathway activation in cell lysates and tissue sections, to compare basal and stimulated ERK signalling, and to investigate upstream oncogenic events including BRAF and KRAS mutations in cancer models. The polyclonal format provides recognition of multiple epitopes on the target, which can be helpful when working across different sample preparations.

For storage, aliquot the antibody upon first thaw and keep frozen at -20 °C, protecting the vial from light and minimising freeze-thaw cycles to preserve binding activity. Immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue is typically carried out after standard antigen retrieval, while western blot workflows commonly pair the antibody with chemiluminescent detection at empirically determined dilutions. This reagent is intended for research use only.
