The MEFV gene encodes pyrin (also called marenostrin), a cytoplasmic regulator of inflammasome assembly in innate immune cells including neutrophils, monocytes, and eosinophils. Mutations in this gene are the molecular cause of Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF), an autosomal recessive autoinflammatory disorder characterized by episodic fever, serositis, and elevated acute-phase reactants. This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and detects the human pyrin protein in Western blot workflows using cell or tissue lysates.

Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated IgG, the reagent is compatible with standard chemiluminescent immunoblotting systems and can be paired with anti-rabbit secondary antibodies. Researchers studying FMF pathogenesis, neutrophil biology, or pyrin inflammasome activity can use this antibody to assess endogenous MEFV expression in inflammatory models. The reagent is reactive with human pyrin and is intended for research use only.
