Raised in rabbit against the MED31 subunit of the human Mediator complex, this unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is intended for Western blot detection of MED31 in lysates prepared from human and mouse sources. The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of liquid at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline with 15 mM sodium azide, approximately pH 7.2, and is shipped frozen on wet or dry ice for storage at -20 °C. Each vial contains sufficient material for routine immunoblotting of endogenous MED31 from whole-cell or tissue extracts, where the protein typically resolves as a band of roughly 20 kDa on SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.

MED31, also referred to as SOH1, is a component of the tail module of the Mediator complex, where it contributes to the regulation of RNA polymerase II-dependent transcription. Researchers studying transcriptional control, signal-dependent gene expression, and chromatin-associated complexes have used anti-MED31 sera to probe Mediator assembly and to follow changes in subunit composition during differentiation, hormone response, or stress. The polyclonal format provides broad epitope coverage, which is helpful when individual monoclonal clones fail to detect MED31 across experimental conditions.

For best results, aliquot the antibody upon first thaw to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and dilute in blocking buffer in proportion to MED31 abundance in the lysate. This reagent is supplied for research use only and is not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
