This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com specifically recognizes MCPH1 (Microcephalin 1), a nuclear protein encoded on chromosome 8p23.1 and originally characterized as BRIT1 in studies of telomere regulation. The reagent is unconjugated, supplied at 100 µl, and validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows with reactivity reported against human samples.

MCPH1 is best known as the gene mutated in autosomal recessive primary microcephaly type 1 (MCPH1), and follow-on studies have established it as a key regulator of the DNA damage response. The protein contains tandem BRCT domains, is phosphorylated by ATM and ATR kinases following genotoxic stress, and participates in recruitment of repair factors to sites of double-strand breaks. Consistent with that biology, MCPH1 has also been linked to homologous recombination, G2/M checkpoint control, and the maintenance of neural progenitor pools during cortical development.

The polyclonal format increases the chance of detecting multiple epitopes across the target, which can be useful when probing low-abundance antigens or working with samples where epitope masking is a concern. Researchers commonly apply this reagent to investigate microcephaly pathogenesis, BRCA1/2-associated repair signaling, centrosome duplication timing, and the broader interface between DNA repair and neurodevelopment. Because the antibody is unconjugated, the choice of secondary label, fluorophore, or enzyme conjugate is left to the end user, supporting flexibility across immunofluorescence, chromogenic IHC, and standard immunoblotting protocols.
