This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets Microcephalin 1 (MCPH1), a nuclear protein recognized for its role in cerebral cortical development and as the gene mutated in autosomal recessive primary microcephaly. The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated IgG, validated for Western blot detection of endogenous MCPH1 in human and mouse samples.

The reagent is relevant to research programs in neurodevelopment, DNA damage response, cell cycle checkpoint biology, and oncology, where MCPH1 contributes to ATR-Chk1 signaling and shows altered expression in several solid tumours. MCPH1 is recruited to DNA double-strand breaks and operates at the interface between homologous recombination repair and non-homologous end joining, making it useful for studies of genomic stability, premature chromosome condensation, and cellular radiation response.

Researchers probing primary neural progenitor proliferation, brain organoid differentiation, or the crosstalk between developmental timing genes and tumour suppressors commonly pair this antibody with markers such as γH2AX, p53, and BRCA1 to map pathway interactions.

For blotting, reducing SDS-PAGE loading is adequate, with an HRP-conjugated anti-rabbit secondary and chemiluminescent substrate producing a clear band near the expected molecular weight region. Aliquot on first use to limit freeze-thaw cycles and store at -20 °C in single-use vials to preserve activity across long-term experiments; the product is for research use only.
