MCM2, also known as BM28, is a core subunit of the replicative helicase complex that licenses origins of DNA replication during the G1 phase of the cell cycle. This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated, ready-to-dilute liquid at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant. The antibody recognizes an epitope on human, mouse, and rat MCM2, supporting applications in Western blot and immunohistochemistry on both fresh and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue.

Because MCM2 expression rises in actively cycling cells and is largely absent from quiescent populations, the antibody is widely used as a proliferation marker in oncology research, including studies of breast, prostate, lung, and gastrointestinal tumors, where it has been used alongside or in place of Ki-67. Researchers working on DNA replication stress, origin licensing, and cell-cycle re-entry in stem or progenitor populations also use MCM2 to distinguish proliferating from resting cells.

The product is shipped as a 50 µl aliquot in a single vial; for short-term use the working stock is kept refrigerated, while long-term storage at -20°C in small aliquots is recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles. As an unconjugated IgG preparation, it is compatible with standard secondary antibody detection systems, fluorescent labeling, or biotinylation, giving laboratories flexibility when designing immunostaining or quantitative immunoblotting protocols.
