Primary antibody targeting Malonyl-CoA Decarboxylase (MCD), a mitochondrial enzyme that decarboxylates malonyl-CoA to acetyl-CoA and plays a central role in regulating fatty acid oxidation and lipid homeostasis. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent is supplied as 100 µl of liquid stock and is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows on human samples.

Raised in rabbit against the MCD antigen, the polyclonal antibody pool recognizes multiple epitopes on the target protein, supporting consistent detection across denatured and native preparations. The unconjugated format from Antibodies.com lets researchers pair the reagent with HRP, fluorophore, or biotin-labeled secondary antibodies of their choice. Reactivity is confirmed against human tissue, making it relevant for studies of metabolic regulation, cardiac and skeletal muscle energy balance, and cancer cell lipid metabolism where MCD expression is frequently altered.

For western blot, the antibody is applied to PVDF or nitrocellulose membranes after SDS-PAGE separation of whole-cell or mitochondrial lysates, followed by chemiluminescent or fluorescent detection. In IHC, the reagent is used on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections with antigen retrieval in citrate or EDTA buffer to localize MCD in hepatocytes, cardiomyocytes, and tumor biopsies. For IF, the antibody supports fixed-cell imaging and subcellular colocalization studies, often paired with mitochondrial markers.

Storage at -20 °C in working aliquots preserves activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles; for short-term bench use, keep the vial refrigerated to limit repeated freeze-thaw stress. Provided as a 100 µl vial, the reagent is sufficient for dozens of western blot lanes or many IHC slides depending on dilution. For research use only.
