Produced in mouse as an unconjugated polyclonal IgG reagent, this Antibodies.com primary antibody recognizes the E. coli maltose binding protein (MBP) affinity tag widely used to enhance soluble expression of recombinant fusion proteins in bacterial and eukaryotic hosts. It is supplied at 50 µl per vial and validated for Western Blotting, where it is used to detect MBP-tagged constructs, monitor tag cleavage after protease treatment, and follow expression across purification fractions such as amylose-resin eluates. The unconjugated format lets users pair it with HRP, alkaline phosphatase, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies for chemiluminescent, colorimetric, or fluorescent detection on PVDF or nitrocellulose membranes. Because it targets the MBP fusion tag itself rather than a native host protein, the antibody works across expression systems including E. coli, S. cerevisiae, and standard mammalian cell lines whenever an MBP fusion is expressed, and it is intended for research use only.
