This polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com targets myoglobin (MB), an oxygen-binding heme protein abundant in cardiac and skeletal muscle fibers where it functions as an intracellular oxygen reservoir. Raised in rabbit, the reagent is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS buffer with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, in a 100 µl pack size that comfortably supports multiple immunostaining and blotting experiments.

The antibody is validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows and cross-reacts with myoglobin from human, mouse, and rat samples. Investigators studying acute myocardial infarction biomarkers, rhabdomyolysis, exertional muscle injury, and inherited myopathies use this reagent to detect released or tissue-resident myoglobin in cardiac biopsy sections, skeletal muscle lysates, and primary myocyte cultures. Its polyclonal profile favors recognition of multiple myoglobin epitopes, which can be advantageous when probing denatured targets on a Western blot membrane.

Because the antibody is unconjugated, it integrates cleanly with HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-labeled secondary reagents chosen to match a given detection platform, whether that is chemiluminescent imaging, chromogenic staining, or confocal microscopy. The 50% glycerol formulation keeps the preparation in liquid phase at standard freezer temperatures, removing the need to aliquot before first use, while the sodium azide in the buffer inhibits microbial contamination during routine handling at the bench.
