The MAX protein (Myc-Associated Factor X) is a basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper (bHLH-LZ) transcription factor that heterodimerizes with MYC and MAD/MXD1 family members to control genes involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Antibodies.com offers this affinity-purified polyclonal reagent raised in rabbit, supplied as an unconjugated IgG at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2. Each 100 µl vial provides enough material for multiple Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence experiments.

Raised against the human MAX target, the antibody also reacts with mouse and rat orthologs, supporting consistent use across human cell line panels and rodent tissue sections in translational research. The 0.05% sodium azide acts as a preservative for short-term handling; for longer storage, aliquot and freeze the vial to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve antibody activity.

Because the reagent is polyclonal, it binds multiple epitopes on MAX, increasing the likelihood of detection across splice isoforms and post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation and acetylation that modulate MAX function. Researchers studying MYC transcriptional programs frequently co-stain with anti-c-MYC antibodies to assess MYC:MAX heterodimer abundance in nuclear compartments.
