Description

A rabbit polyclonal antibody to MAVS (mitochondrial antiviral-signaling protein), also known as IPS1, KIAA1271, VISA or CARDIF, unconjugated and supplied by Antibodies.com as a primary antibody validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) on human samples. The immunogen is recombinant full length human MAVS, and the reagent detects endogenous levels of the MAVS protein. It is formulated at 1mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% Sodium Azide and 50% Glycerol.

MAVS is a 540 amino acid protein containing one CARD domain and several transmembrane domains, localised to the outer mitochondrial membrane and expressed throughout the body with highest expression in liver, heart, placenta, skeletal muscle and peripheral blood leukocytes. It functions downstream of sensors such as RIG-I in the response to double-stranded viral replication, activates pathways that induce antiviral cytokines, and may protect cells from viral-induced apoptosis. Three isoforms are produced via alternative splicing.

The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen, with purity greater than 95% by SDS-PAGE, and the target protein migrates at approximately 57 and 75 kDa.
