MARCKS (Myristoylated Alanine-Rich C-Kinase Substrate) is a widely expressed PKC substrate that regulates actin dynamics, membrane trafficking, and cytoskeletal remodeling at the cell periphery. This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets the MARCKS protein and has been validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence workflows across human, mouse, and rat samples. The immunogen corresponds to a region around residue K152 of MARCKS, enabling recognition of the endogenous protein in cell lysates and fixed tissue sections.

The reagent is supplied as 50 µl of unconjugated IgG at 1 mg/ml in phosphate-buffered saline (pH ~7.2) containing 15 mM sodium azide as a preservative. For Western blot, the antibody is applied to whole-cell or tissue lysates resolved by SDS-PAGE; for immunofluorescence, it can be used on paraformaldehyde-fixed cells to visualize membrane-associated and cytoplasmic pools of the protein. The polyclonal format increases the likelihood of robust signal even when a single linear epitope is altered by post-translational modification, which matters because MARCKS function is tightly controlled by PKC-mediated phosphorylation and by membrane binding through its N-terminal myristoyl group.

Researchers studying synaptic plasticity, neurobiology, macrophage biology, and PKC-dependent signaling pathways use this reagent to monitor MARCKS expression, subcellular distribution, and phosphorylation-dependent redistribution. For short-term use, the vial should be kept refrigerated; for longer storage, freezing at -20 °C in small aliquots is recommended to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the antibody solution.
