Raised in rabbit hosts, this polyclonal reagent recognizes MAPKAPK-2 (also called MK2), a serine/threonine kinase that operates immediately downstream of p38 MAPK in cellular stress, inflammatory, and cytokine signaling cascades. The antibody was generated against an N-terminal epitope of the human MK2 sequence, enabling detection of the kinase in fixed and denatured samples and supporting studies of how the p38/MK2 axis controls mRNA stability, cytoskeletal remodeling, and the cellular response to genotoxic insult.

Validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry, the antibody reacts with endogenous MAPKAPK-2 from human, mouse, and rat tissue, supporting comparative work across common model organisms. Researchers commonly deploy it to monitor MK2 activation following LPS challenge, TNF-alpha stimulation, or p38 pathway activation in cell culture, and to localize the kinase in paraffin-embedded sections from inflamed or stressed tissue, where it can be paired with phospho-specific antibodies to dissect pathway dynamics.

Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antibody at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.05% sodium azide (pH approximately 7.2), the preparation is ready for dilution into standard blocking buffers. For short-term use, keep the vial refrigerated at 4 °C; for longer storage, aliquot and freeze to limit freeze-thaw cycles. Antibodies.com packages each lot with documentation that confirms the stated reactivity profile and supports research use only applications in academic and industrial laboratories.
