Anti-MAP2 (N-term) Antibody

A neuronal cytoskeletal marker targeting the amino-terminal region of Microtubule-Associated Protein 2, this unconjugated mouse monoclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µL of IgG2b. The N-terminal epitope is shared among the major MAP2 isoforms, including the high-molecular-weight MAP2a and MAP2b of mature neurons and the juvenile MAP2c, so the reagent works well for charting dendritic differentiation across developmental stages.

The antibody cross-reacts with human, bovine, mouse, and rat samples and has been validated for western blot (WB) and immunocytochemistry (ICC) workflows. In western blot of brain lysate it resolves the characteristic high-molecular-weight doublet corresponding to MAP2a and MAP2b, while in immunocytochemistry on cultured neurons it produces strong dendritic staining with little somatic signal, matching the protein's known compartmentalization. Routine applications include phenotyping primary neuronal cultures, characterizing iPSC-derived neurons, profiling cytoskeletal remodeling under pharmacological or injury conditions, and mapping microtubule stability in neurodegenerative and traumatic brain-injury models.
