Offered by Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP2), a cytoskeletal phosphoprotein enriched in neuronal dendrites. The reagent is supplied as a 100 µL unconjugated aliquot intended for routine neuroscience workflows investigating neuronal differentiation, dendritic architecture, and cytoskeletal remodeling in brain tissue.

Validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC), the antibody cross-reacts with human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting comparative studies across rodent disease models and human specimen research. On Western blots, MAP2 resolves as high-molecular-weight bands around 280 kDa corresponding to the MAP2a and MAP2b isoforms, with additional smaller species near 70 kDa representing MAP2c and MAP2d splice variants.

As a canonical dendritic marker, MAP2 is widely used to identify neurons, monitor neurite outgrowth in differentiating cultures, and assess cytoskeletal alterations in neurodegeneration, traumatic brain injury, and developmental neurobiology models. The polyclonal format increases the probability of detecting multiple MAP2 isoforms, which is helpful when surveying isoform-specific expression across brain regions or developmental time points. Store refrigerated and minimize freeze-thaw cycles to preserve antibody activity across repeated staining or blotting experiments.
