This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP2), a cytoskeletal phosphoprotein concentrated in neuronal dendrites and widely used as a dendritic marker in neuroscience and developmental biology research. Raised in rabbit, the reagent is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum suitable for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human, mouse, and rat tissue samples.

In Western blot applications, the antibody labels high-molecular-weight MAP2 isoforms (MAP2a and MAP2b, approximately 280 kDa) and the lower-molecular-weight MAP2c isoform (~70 kDa), allowing researchers to probe cytoskeletal remodeling, neuronal differentiation, and response to excitotoxic or traumatic injury models. For immunohistochemistry, it produces robust staining of dendrites and perikarya in fixed brain sections, supporting studies of neurogenesis, synaptic plasticity, and neurodegenerative disease models such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

For optimal stability, the vial should be stored at -20 °C in small aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, with short-term use at 4 °C as needed. The unconjugated format offers flexibility for downstream labelling with fluorophores, biotin, or reporter enzymes of the researcher's choice, making this MAP2 reagent a versatile addition to neuronal phenotyping panels.
