This unconjugated mouse monoclonal antibody targets microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP-2), a high-molecular-weight cytoskeletal phosphoprotein that stabilizes dendritic microtubules and is widely used as a marker for neuronal cell bodies and processes. Produced by Antibodies.com as a purified IgG preparation in 0.1M Tris-Glycine buffer (pH 7.4, 150 mM NaCl) with 0.2% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the reagent is supplied at 50 µl per vial and is validated for Western blot, immunocytochemistry, and immunoprecipitation workflows. The clone recognizes both human and mouse MAP-2 isoforms, supporting comparative work between rodent models and human neuronal cultures. In Western blot it labels the characteristic high-molecular-weight doublet near 280 kDa, while in immunocytochemistry it produces a dendritic staining pattern that cleanly delineates neuronal processes from surrounding glia. Researchers commonly deploy this reagent to track neuronal differentiation in stem cell-derived cultures, to assess dendritic integrity in neurodegeneration and injury models, and to enrich MAP-2-containing complexes from brain lysates by immunoprecipitation. The antibody should be stored at -20 °C in single-use aliquots to preserve activity across repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and the included sodium azide allows the reagent to be added directly to fixed-cell staining preparations without further preservation steps. Handle protected from light and minimize exposure to room temperature before use.
