Monoamine oxidase B is a flavin adenine dinucleotide-dependent enzyme anchored to the outer mitochondrial membrane, where it catalyzes the oxidative deamination of dopamine, benzylamine, and other monoamines. The Antibodies.com Anti-MAOB Antibody is a rabbit polyclonal IgG preparation that recognizes this enzyme in human tissue and is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.

Supplied as 100 µL of unconjugated antiserum, the reagent can be paired with HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies chosen by the end user. Because MAOB is enriched in dopaminergic neurons of the substantia nigra and is also detectable in liver and platelets, this antibody supports research into Parkinson's disease, age-related changes in monoaminergic signaling, and the pharmacological action of MAOB inhibitors such as selegiline and rasagiline. Working dilutions should be optimized empirically for each application and sample preparation method.

To preserve reagent integrity, store the vial refrigerated at 4 °C for short-term use or at -20 °C in working aliquots when held for longer periods; repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided. The product is intended for research use only and has not been validated for clinical diagnostic applications. Lot-specific QC data and recommended protocols are available through the Antibodies.com product page.
