This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against monoamine oxidase A (MAOA), the X-linked mitochondrial outer-membrane flavoenzyme that catalyzes oxidative deamination of monoamine neurotransmitters such as serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. The antibody targets an epitope corresponding to the P347 region of human MAOA and is supplied as 50 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in phosphate buffered saline at approximately pH 7.2, with 15 mM sodium azide included as a preservative.

Validated for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC), the unconjugated antibody cross-reacts with human, mouse, and rat MAOA, supporting comparative expression studies, neural-tissue mapping, and research into monoaminergic signaling pathways implicated in neurological and behavioral disorders. Common applications include immunoblotting of whole-cell or mitochondrial lysates to monitor MAOA polypeptide levels, and IHC staining of brain sections to localize enzyme distribution across regions such as the raphe nuclei and locus coeruleus.

For best results, store refrigerated at 2 to 8 degrees C, aliquot upon first thaw to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and avoid use in workflows where sodium azide interferes with downstream chemistry. A standard rabbit polyclonal western blot working concentration is often in the 0.5 to 2 µg/ml range, though each laboratory should titrate empirically. The product is intended for research use only.
