Raised in rabbit as a polyclonal reagent, this unconjugated primary antibody from Antibodies.com recognizes Monoamine Oxidase A (MAOA) and has been validated for reactivity with human, mouse, and rat samples. The immunogen corresponds to a region encompassing phosphoserine 347, so the reagent can be used to monitor phosphorylation-dependent regulation of MAOA in cell and tissue lysates. MAOA is a flavin-dependent enzyme anchored in the outer mitochondrial membrane, where it catalyzes oxidative deamination of monoamine neurotransmitters such as serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. The X-linked MAOA gene is a longstanding subject of neurochemistry and behavioral research.

Supplied as a 100 µl aliquot at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) supplemented with 15 mM sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, the antibody is validated for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC). In western blot applications the antibody typically detects endogenous MAOA as a band near the expected molecular weight of approximately 60 kDa. In IHC, standard antigen retrieval procedures followed by chromogenic or fluorescent visualization with appropriate secondary antibodies are compatible with this unconjugated format.

Storage and handling: store refrigerated to protect from light and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles by aliquoting before long-term storage. The 15 mM sodium azide serves as a preservative; the formulation is not recommended for live-cell staining. Intended for research use only.
