LRP1 (LDL receptor-related protein 1) is a large multifunctional endocytic receptor involved in lipoprotein uptake, clearance of α-2-macroglobulin–protease complexes, and modulation of several cell-signaling pathways. Antibodies.com supplies this target as a rabbit polyclonal primary antibody, raised against LRP1 and validated for western blot and immunofluorescence applications in human, mouse, and rat samples. The reagent is unconjugated and ships as a 100 µl liquid stock that researchers can dilute into standard blocking and antibody buffers.
Because the antibody is polyclonal, it recognizes multiple epitopes on the LRP1 precursor and its processed subunits, which is helpful when probing receptor cleavage, trafficking, or subcellular redistribution. In western blot workflows, samples typically include membrane-enriched fractions or whole-cell lysates resolved by SDS-PAGE, allowing visualization of the high-molecular-mass precursor and the smaller light chain fragment. For immunofluorescence, the antibody can be applied to paraformaldehyde-fixed cells or cryosections to map LRP1 localization at the plasma membrane and within endosomal compartments.
For best results, the stock should be aliquoted on arrival, stored refrigerated, and protected from light, with working dilutions kept on ice to minimize freeze-thaw cycles and preserve activity across repeated experiments. The product is supplied as a single-use-format vial intended for research use only and is not labeled for clinical or diagnostic use. Studies of receptor-mediated endocytosis, transcytosis across the blood–brain barrier, amyloid clearance, and lipid metabolism can all benefit from this reagent to assess both steady-state LRP1 levels and stimulus-induced changes in neuronal, hepatic, and vascular models.
