This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody targets human LRP1 (Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor-Related Protein 1), a multifunctional endocytic receptor also known as CD91 or the alpha-2-macroglobulin receptor. Supplied by Antibodies.com as a 100 µl liquid aliquot, the reagent is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows.

LRP1 is a ~600 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that mediates the internalization and lysosomal degradation of numerous ligands, including apolipoprotein E, alpha-2-macroglobulin, tissue plasminogen activator, and amyloid-beta. The mature receptor is proteolytically processed into a ~515 kDa extracellular alpha-chain and an ~85 kDa transmembrane beta-chain that remain non-covalently associated at the cell surface. Because of its broad ligand-binding repertoire, LRP1 is implicated in lipid homeostasis, fibrinolysis, neurobiology, and the clearance of apoptotic cells. Researchers studying Alzheimer's disease, atherosclerosis, cancer cell migration, or blood-brain barrier function routinely probe LRP1 expression to dissect these pathways.

As a polyclonal reagent raised in rabbit, the antibody recognizes multiple epitopes across the LRP1 ectodomain and intracellular tail, increasing the likelihood of strong signal even when one epitope is masked by fixation or sample preparation. The unconjugated format gives laboratories flexibility to couple the antibody to HRP, biotin, fluorophores, or gold particles according to their own detection chemistry. Refrigerate on arrival; aliquot to limit freeze-thaw cycles and protect from light for long-term storage.
