This polyclonal antibody targets LRAT (lecithin:retinol acyltransferase), a microsomal enzyme that esterifies retinol with long-chain fatty acids to form retinyl esters, a step essential for hepatic vitamin A storage and for regenerating the visual chromophore in the retinal pigment epithelium.

Raised in rabbit and affinity-purified, the reagent is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a 100 µl vial, and is unconjugated for flexible downstream labelling. It is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows, with confirmed reactivity against human LRAT. Sodium azide is included as a preservative.

For handling, keep refrigerated for short-term use, aliquot upon receipt to minimise freeze-thaw cycles, and protect the vial from light. Laboratories working on retinoid metabolism, retinal cell biology, and hepatic stellate cell biology use this reagent from Antibodies.com to map LRAT expression in retinal pigment epithelium and liver tissue, to study retinoid turnover, and to investigate LRAT sequence variants linked to early-onset retinal dystrophy.
