The LRAT (Lecithin:Retinol Acyltransferase) protein is a microsomal enzyme that catalyzes acyl transfer from lecithin to all-trans-retinol, generating retinyl esters that are stored in hepatic stellate cells and the retinal pigment epithelium. This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against LRAT and supports studies of vitamin A uptake, retinoid metabolism, and visual cycle biology.

The antibody is supplied at 1 mg/mL in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, packaged as a 100 µL vial. It is unconjugated, giving researchers freedom to pair it with a wide range of secondary antibodies and custom detection chemistries. Validation has been performed for Western blot and immunofluorescence, two of the most common readouts used in cell signaling and tissue-localization work.

Reactivity is confirmed for Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, making the reagent broadly applicable to rodent disease models as well as human cell line and biopsy research. The 50% glycerol formulation protects against freeze-thaw damage, and aliquoting on first use helps preserve activity across many experiments. LRAT expression is most often examined in retinal pigment epithelium, liver, testis, and small intestine, and altered LRAT activity has been linked to conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, hepatic fibrosis, and certain inherited retinopathies, giving the antibody broad utility across ophthalmology, hepatology, and metabolic disease laboratories.
