Anti-LRAT Antibody

LRAT is a microsomal enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of an acyl group from phosphatidylcholine to all-trans-retinol, producing retinyl esters for storage in hepatic stellate cells and for regeneration of the visual chromophore in the retinal pigment epithelium. Because of this dual role in hepatic vitamin A handling and the visual cycle, the antibody is used in vision research, retinoid metabolism studies, and investigations of mutations linked to Leber congenital amaurosis and retinitis pigmentosa. The unconjugated format allows the user to pair it with labeled secondary antibodies for fluorescence or chemiluminescent detection in cell culture lysates, tissue cryosections, and subcellular localization studies centered on the endoplasmic reticulum.
