Anti-LMNA Antibody

This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets LMNA, the gene that encodes lamin A and lamin C through alternative splicing of a single primary transcript. Lamins A and C are type V intermediate filament proteins that assemble into the nuclear lamina, the meshwork underlying the inner nuclear membrane that anchors chromatin and supports nuclear envelope integrity. The unconjugated reagent is supplied as 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum raised in rabbit, validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows in human, mouse, and rat samples.

LMNA mutations underlie a spectrum of laminopathies, including Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome, Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy, dilated cardiomyopathy, familial partial lipodystrophy (Dunnigan-type), and mandibuloacral dysplasia. Research applications include studies of nuclear morphology, cellular senescence, mechanotransduction, and chromatin organization. In western blot, the antibody recognizes lamin A at approximately 70 kDa and lamin C at approximately 65 kDa; in immunofluorescence, it produces the perinuclear rim staining characteristic of nuclear envelope localization. The antibody should be handled as frozen aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and downstream conjugations should be protected from light. Research use only.
