Raised in rabbit against a synthetic peptide derived from the internal region of human LGALS1, this unconjugated polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com binds the 14.5 kDa β-galactoside-binding lectin galectin-1 in its endogenous form. Each vial contains 200 µl of affinity-purified antibody, sufficient for multiple western blot and immunohistochemistry experiments on human, mouse, and rat samples.

The reagent is validated for WB and IHC and is commonly deployed in studies of tumor immune evasion, where galectin-1 produced by cancer-associated stromal cells suppresses T-cell activity and supports angiogenesis in ovarian, breast, lung, and melanoma models. Immunology labs also use it to map galectin-1 expression in autoimmune disease models, including experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis and collagen-induced arthritis, and to track dynamic expression in vascular remodeling and placental development studies.

For western blot, the antibody is used at 1:500 to 1:2,000 dilution to detect a band at approximately 14.5 kDa on standard SDS-PAGE, while IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections is performed at 1:25 to 1:100 dilution with chromogenic or fluorescent detection. As an unconjugated primary, it can be paired with HRP-conjugated, biotinylated, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies to suit a range of imaging and detection platforms.

Handle the vial at 4°C for short-term use and store at -20°C for longer periods, following standard practice for rabbit polyclonal antibodies. To preserve activity across longitudinal studies, aliquot upon first thaw, avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, protect from light, and briefly centrifuge before opening to collect any liquid trapped in the cap.
