This Rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets LDHA (Lactate Dehydrogenase A), the M subunit of lactate dehydrogenase, encoded by the LDHA gene on chromosome 11p15.1. The 100 µg liquid preparation is validated for Western Blot (WB) detection in human, mouse, and rat samples, with the unconjugated IgG format allowing flexible pairing with HRP-, Alexa Fluor-, or IRDye-labeled secondary reagents.

LDHA catalyzes the interconversion of pyruvate and L-lactate with concurrent NADH/NAD+ cycling, sitting at the branch point between aerobic respiration and anaerobic glycolysis. The functional enzyme is a homotetramer of M subunits (~36 kDa each), and its expression is upregulated across many solid tumors through HIF-1α and c-Myc signaling, where it sustains Warburg-type metabolism and acidifies the tumor microenvironment. Researchers studying cancer metabolism, hypoxia responses, myogenesis, and metabolic reprogramming commonly probe LDHA levels by western blot alongside companion markers such as HK2, PKM2, PDH, and MCT1 to profile glycolytic flux.

For handling, store the antibody at -20 °C in single-use aliquots to limit freeze-thaw damage; short-term storage at 4 °C is acceptable for active working stocks. Cross-species reactivity (human, mouse, rat) supports comparative immunoblotting and xenograft tissue work without re-validating a new reagent, and the polyclonal nature of the reagent is useful for detecting both full-length LDHA and common proteolytic or post-translational fragments that monoclonal clones may miss.
