Produced in rabbit hosts and supplied as an unconjugated IgG preparation in 200 µL, this polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets LCAT for Western blot and immunohistochemistry applications.

LCAT (Lecithin-Cholesterol Acyltransferase) is a ~67 kDa plasma enzyme secreted by hepatocytes that esterifies free cholesterol within discoidal HDL, generating cholesteryl esters and supporting HDL maturation and reverse cholesterol transport. The reagent shows reactivity with human, mouse, and rat samples, enabling cross-species studies of lipid metabolism, cardiovascular disease, and inherited disorders such as familial LCAT deficiency and fish-eye disease.

For Western blot, lysates are typically resolved on SDS-PAGE and transferred to PVDF or nitrocellulose before probing; for immunohistochemistry, formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections are used with standard antigen retrieval. Aliquot upon arrival and store at -20°C, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles. The polyclonal format recognizes multiple epitopes on the LCAT protein, which is useful when probing across species or characterizing isoform expression in hepatic and extrahepatic tissues.
