The LARGE protein (LARGE xylosyl- and glucuronyltransferase 1) is a type II transmembrane glycosyltransferase that resides in the Golgi apparatus and catalyzes the sequential addition of xylose and glucuronic acid residues onto alpha-dystroglycan. This post-translational modification is required for laminin binding at the skeletal muscle and neuronal basement membrane interface, and loss-of-function mutations in the LARGE1 gene are linked to congenital muscular dystrophy type 1D (MDC1D) and overlapping dystroglycanopathy phenotypes.
Antibodies.com provides this rabbit polyclonal IgG, unconjugated and raised against the human LARGE target, supplied as a 200 µl aliquot. The reagent is validated for Western blot detection of endogenous LARGE expression in human samples, supporting studies of dystroglycan glycosylation, neuromuscular junction organization, and inherited muscle disease research.
