Raised in rabbit against recombinant human Kynureninase, this unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets the PLP-dependent enzyme encoded by the KYNU gene, a central node of the tryptophan-kynurenine catabolic route. The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, ready for direct dilution into assay buffers. Validated for Western blot on whole-cell lysates, where it labels a band near the expected ~52 kDa mature KYNU polypeptide, and for immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections, the reagent reacts with both human and mouse orthologues, supporting translational studies that span patient tissue and rodent disease models.

Because the reagent is unconjugated, it fits cleanly into custom detection workflows: HRP- or fluorophore-coupled secondary antibodies, biotin-streptavidin amplification, or multiplex tyramide signal amplification can be layered on without competing labels. The 50% glycerol formulation lets the stock be kept at -20 °C without full freezing, but aliquoting on first use is recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve titre across the working shelf life.

Typical published uses include profiling kynurenine pathway activity in tumor immune microenvironments, where KYNU acts downstream of IDO1/TDO2 to convert 3-hydroxykynurenine into 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid, and in neuroinflammation research, where altered kynurenine flux is implicated in neurodegenerative and psychiatric disease models. Investigators studying NAD+ biosynthesis, aryl hydrocarbon receptor ligand availability, or the immunometabolic consequences of tryptophan depletion will find this primary antibody useful as a detection reagent in standard WB and IHC pipelines.
