Anti-KRT4 Antibody

Produced by Antibodies.com as a polyclonal reagent raised in rabbit, this unconjugated primary antibody targets the cytokeratin-4 (KRT4) type II intermediate filament protein. KRT4 is expressed in the differentiated suprabasal layers of non-keratinizing stratified squamous epithelium, including oral mucosa, esophageal lining, and conjunctiva, making the reagent a useful immunohistochemical and biochemical marker for studies of mucosal epithelial differentiation and stratification. Investigators working on oral and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, as well as on White Sponge Nevus caused by KRT4 mutations, frequently deploy anti-KRT4 antibodies to track epithelial phenotype changes in patient biopsies and in vitro epithelial model systems.

Validated for Western Blot (WB) detection, the antibody cross-reacts with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, supporting comparative studies across commonly used laboratory species. The reagent is supplied as 100 µl at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 15 mM sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, allowing direct dilution into standard blotting buffers. Sodium azide acts as a preservative, so the formulation should be handled accordingly for downstream applications sensitive to azide.
