A polyclonal IgG antibody raised in rabbit against keratin 16 (KRT16), supplied by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated reagent for research use only. This affinity-purified reagent specifically recognizes the type I cytokeratin encoded by the KRT16 gene and is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry (IHC) across human, mouse, and rat samples.

KRT16 is a structural cytokeratin expressed primarily in the suprabasal layers of stratified epithelia, including palmar and plantar epidermis, oral mucosa, and hair follicles. Its expression is strongly induced during wound healing, hyperproliferative skin disorders, and in lesions such as psoriatic plaques and certain squamous cell carcinomas, making this antibody a useful marker for keratinocyte differentiation studies and epidermal stress responses. Researchers investigating pachyonychia congenita, epidermolysis, mucosal inflammation, and skin barrier function routinely use anti-KRT16 reagents to visualize aberrant keratin expression patterns in tissue sections and keratin-enriched lysates.

The product is supplied as 200 µl of liquid antibody in a vial, intended for storage at -20 °C in single-use aliquots to preserve activity through multiple freeze-thaw cycles. Each lot is affinity purified against the immunogen and quality-controlled for specificity on relevant cell and tissue lysates, supporting reproducible band detection in western blot and clean cytoplasmic staining in IHC when paired with standard chromogenic or fluorescence secondary detection.
