KRT18 (Keratin, type I cytoskeletal 18) is a ~48 kDa type I intermediate filament protein expressed in simple and glandular epithelia. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against the human target and supplied as 100 µg of reagent validated for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC), supporting epithelial phenotyping, carcinoma profiling, and studies of apoptosis-driven KRT18 cleavage in hepatocytes.

In western blot, the antibody detects the expected ~48 kDa band in human epithelial cell lysates, providing a reliable marker for epithelial-derived lines and a useful internal reference when characterizing epithelial-mesenchymal transition. In IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections, it labels glandular and simple epithelial structures and is widely used to confirm epithelial origin in tumor tissue microarrays. The unconjugated format allows flexible pairing with user-selected secondary reagents (HRP, fluorescent, or biotin-conjugated) depending on the detection platform.

Because caspase cleavage of KRT18 during apoptosis generates well-characterized neo-epitopes (such as the caspase-cleaved KRT18-Asp396 fragment recognized by M30 antibodies), this polyclonal reagent complements M30/M65 apoptosis assays and is frequently used in drug-induced liver injury research. Upon receipt, reconstitute in sterile buffer and store refrigerated for short-term use; aliquot and freeze for longer storage to limit freeze-thaw cycles. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
