Raised in rabbit against the type II intermediate filament protein Keratin 8, this unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µL of liquid and is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows. The antibody detects endogenous Keratin 8 in human, mouse, and rat samples and is commonly used to characterise simple epithelia and epithelial-derived tumours.

Keratin 8 heterodimerises with the type I partner Keratin 18 to build the intermediate filament cytoskeleton of hepatocytes, intestinal epithelial cells, and many glandular tissues, and its preservation in tissue sections is widely used to confirm epithelial identity in research and pathology studies. Investigators also employ Keratin 8 immunostaining in liver injury models, because K8/K18 are abundant hepatocyte proteins that are phosphorylated, ubiquitinated, and fragmented under stress, making the antibody a sensitive readout of hepatocellular damage in mouse and rat studies.

The polyclonal format yields recognition of multiple epitopes across the target, which is advantageous when probing denatured lysates for Western blotting or formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections for IHC. Supplied unconjugated, the antibody is compatible with standard HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagents for flexible detection chemistry. The 100 µL vial is intended for routine laboratory use across multiple experiments and supports both academic research and translational studies of epithelial biology.
