The Keratin 7 protein is a type II cytokeratin that forms part of the intermediate filament cytoskeleton in simple and glandular epithelia. This Rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets human Keratin 7 and is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antisera for western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) workflows.

In research and pathology labs, the reagent is applied to epithelial-derived tumor specimens. Keratin 7 expression patterns help characterize adenocarcinomas of the breast, ovary, lung, endometrium, and cervix, and are routinely consulted alongside Keratin 20 to classify tumors of the gastrointestinal and pancreatobiliary tracts. The antibody is also relevant for distinguishing epithelial mesothelioma from metastatic adenocarcinoma on tissue sections.

As a polyclonal reagent raised in Rabbit, the antibody recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can be useful when detecting isoforms or post-translationally modified forms. On western blot membranes, it resolves Keratin 7 in epithelial cell lysates, and on fixed tissue sections, it produces a cytoplasmic staining pattern consistent with intermediate filament localization. For best practice, aliquot on first use to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and store the vial frozen at low temperature between uses.
