Keratin 19 is the smallest type I intermediate filament protein of the cytokeratin family, expressed predominantly in simple and glandular epithelia throughout the body. This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com, raised in rabbit, is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum and is validated for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) applications across human, mouse, and rat samples.

The target protein is a well-established epithelial differentiation marker. In normal tissue, Keratin 19 localizes to the cytoplasm of hepatocytes, biliary ductal epithelium, intestinal crypt enterocytes, and the basal layer of the mammary gland. In pathology, antibodies directed against this antigen are routinely used to identify circulating tumor cells, distinguish hepatocellular carcinoma from cholangiocarcinoma, and profile epithelial-derived cancers of the breast, pancreas, and gastrointestinal tract.

For IHC, the antibody performs well on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections when paired with standard heat-induced antigen retrieval. For WB, the expected band appears at approximately 40 kDa under reducing SDS-PAGE conditions. Researchers working on intestinal stem cell biology, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, or tumor cell dissemination rely on this epithelial selector as a robust co-staining partner alongside markers such as vimentin, E-cadherin, or CD45 in dual-IHC panels.
