The KDR receptor, also known as VEGFR-2 or Flk-1, is a type III receptor tyrosine kinase that serves as the principal signaling receptor for vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Tyrosine 1214 is a major autophosphorylation site within the kinase domain that becomes activated upon VEGF stimulation, driving downstream cascades involved in endothelial cell proliferation, migration, and vascular permeability.

This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com selectively recognizes KDR only when phosphorylated at the Y1214 residue. The unconjugated IgG reagent is supplied in a 200 µl volume and is validated for Western Blot (WB) workflows against human samples. Typical use cases include monitoring VEGFR-2 activation in primary endothelial cells, characterizing tumor vasculature signaling, and following angiogenic responses in cell-based models.

Phospho-specific recognition at Y1214 allows clear discrimination between ligand-induced KDR activation and basal receptor expression, a feature that supports quantitative signal transduction studies in vascular biology and oncology research. For best results, store the antibody at -20 °C and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles by dispensing into working aliquots before first use.
