Raised in rabbit, this polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com targets the rat KDR receptor — also known as VEGFR-2 or Flk-1 — a type III transmembrane tyrosine kinase that serves as the principal signaling receptor for VEGF-A on endothelial cells. The unconjugated antibody is supplied as a 50 µl liquid aliquot and is validated for Western Blot detection of the approximately 152 kDa receptor in reducing SDS-PAGE.

KDR drives VEGF-A-mediated endothelial proliferation, migration, survival, and vascular permeability, and it plays a non-redundant role in embryonic vasculogenesis and post-natal angiogenic sprouting. Investigators studying tumor angiogenesis, ischemic tissue revascularization, retinal neovascular disease, and vascular injury models commonly examine KDR expression and phosphorylation status in endothelial cell cultures, tissue lysates, and disease-model specimens.

For Western Blot, standard workflows resolve total protein lysates on reducing SDS-PAGE, transfer to nitrocellulose or PVDF membrane, block, and probe with the unconjugated primary antibody before applying an HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary against rabbit IgG. The polyclonal format provides multi-epitope recognition across the receptor's extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains and intracellular kinase region, supporting comparisons between total receptor levels and phospho-KDR in signaling time-course experiments.

Handling recommendations: refrigerate the antibody at 4 °C for short-term use; for experiments repeated over multiple weeks, aliquot into single-use working volumes to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and reserve a stock aliquot at -20 °C for longer-term storage. The reagent is supplied in single-use vial format and is intended for research use only.
