KCNJ8 encodes Kir6.1, an inward-rectifier potassium channel subunit that pairs with SUR2-class sulfonylurea receptors and contributes to vascular smooth-muscle excitability, coronary vasomotor tone, and cardiac electrical activity. Variants in this gene have been linked to early-onset atrial fibrillation and J-wave ECG phenotypes in defined patient cohorts, and Kir6.1 is broadly expressed across human heart, vascular smooth muscle, and neural tissue. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against KCNJ8 and validated for Western blot detection of the human protein, supplied as a 200 µL liquid aliquot. Pair this primary with anti-rabbit HRP or fluorescent secondaries to visualize Kir6.1 in human cell and tissue lysates, and titrate against endogenous expression in positive-control samples such as human cardiac or aortic tissue to confirm band identity. For routine antibody handling, aliquot on first use and store frozen at -20 °C in a frost-free freezer; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the working stock and protect diluted antibody from light.
