The KCNJ13 antibody offered by Antibodies.com is a rabbit polyclonal reagent raised against the Kir7.1 potassium channel, an inwardly rectifying potassium channel that maintains ionic homeostasis across the retinal pigment epithelium. Affinity-purified and unconjugated, this IgG preparation supports immunodetection of endogenous human KCNJ13 in western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows commonly used to study retinal physiology and inherited channelopathies.

Kir7.1 is encoded by the KCNJ13 gene, a member of the inward rectifier potassium channel subfamily. It is expressed predominantly in the retinal pigment epithelium, with additional roles reported in the choroid plexus, intestinal epithelium, and thyroid. Loss-of-function variants in KCNJ13 are causally linked to Leber congenital amaurosis type 16 (LCA16) and to snowflake vitreoretinal degeneration, making well-characterized antibodies against this channel valuable tools for probing tissue distribution patterns, mapping disease-associated expression changes, and supporting ophthalmology and vision research programs.

Each vial is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated polyclonal IgG in liquid format, ready to be diluted into standard assay buffers. The reagent is validated for reactivity with human samples and is intended for research use only in applications including western blot analysis of membrane-associated fractions and immunohistochemistry on fixed tissue sections. Detailed buffer composition and storage guidance are available on the Antibodies.com product datasheet.
