This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets the KCNJ11 protein, also known as Kir6.2, the pore-forming subunit of the ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channel expressed in pancreatic beta cells, cardiac myocytes, and selected neuronal populations. Raised in rabbit and supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum, the reagent is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat specimens.

KCNJ11/Kir6.2 serves as the ion-conducting core of the KATP complex, coupling intracellular ATP levels to membrane excitability and governing insulin secretion in islet beta cells. Loss-of-function and gain-of-function variants in this gene are linked to neonatal diabetes, congenital hyperinsulinism, and certain forms of adult-onset type 2 diabetes, making reliable detection important for studies of beta-cell physiology and metabolic disease.

For Western blot, the antibody detects the approximately 44 kDa Kir6.2 band in lysates from MIN6 or INS-1 beta-cell lines, heart, and brain. For IHC, it is compatible with paraformaldehyde-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue and with frozen sections, supporting chromogenic and fluorescence workflows on standard slides. Store refrigerated and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles; aliquot on first use to preserve performance. Intended for research use only.
