Raised in rabbit against the Kir4.1 inward-rectifier potassium channel encoded by KCNJ10, this unconjugated polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl of antiserum validated for western blot applications. The antibody recognizes the human, mouse, and rat forms of the channel, supporting comparative studies of glial potassium buffering in the central nervous system, renal tubular reabsorption, and cochlear endolymph homeostasis. Loss-of-function mutations in KCNJ10 are linked to EAST/SeSAME syndrome, and the reagent is therefore frequently used in neuroscience and nephrology labs that model channelopathies affecting Kir4.1 expression at astrocytic endfeet and along the distal nephron. Researchers typically apply the antibody to membrane-enriched fractions or whole-cell lysates under reducing conditions, then probe for the expected ~42 kDa band.
