Anti-KCNJ1 Antibody

This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets KCNJ1, the gene that encodes the inward rectifier potassium channel Kir1.1, also known as ROMK1. Kir1.1 channels are predominantly expressed in the renal epithelium, where they mediate potassium recycling across the apical membrane of tubular cells in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle and the cortical collecting duct. Because of this restricted distribution, the antibody is routinely used in nephrology research and in studies of potassium homeostasis, salt handling, and the molecular basis of inherited tubulopathies such as Bartter syndrome type II.

The reagent is raised in rabbit and purified as an IgG polyclonal preparation supplied unconjugated in a 100 µl vial. Researchers apply it to Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on mouse and rat tissue, the two species whose KCNJ1 orthologues the antibody has been validated to recognize.
