Anti-KCNG2 Antibody

This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets KCNG2, the voltage-gated potassium channel subunit Kv6.2 commonly investigated in neuroscience and ion channel research. Raised in rabbit, the unconjugated reagent recognizes both human and mouse KCNG2 and is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows.

KCNG2 does not form functional homomeric channels on its own; instead, it acts as a silent modulatory subunit that assembles into heterotetrameric complexes with members of the Kv2 family, most notably KCNB1 (Kv2.1), altering their gating, surface expression and biophysical behavior. Studies using isoform-selective antibodies have mapped Kv6.2 distribution across the brain, including hippocampal and cortical regions, supporting a role in shaping delayed-rectifier potassium currents in neurons.

The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum and is intended for research use only. Suggested uses include immunoblotting of membrane-enriched lysates from transfected cells or native tissue, and chromogenic IHC on fixed brain sections to characterize regional Kv6.2 expression patterns. Storage at 2 to 8 degrees C is recommended for short-term use; aliquots should be frozen for long-term storage to limit freeze-thaw cycles.
