The Anti-IZUMO1 polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is validated for western blot, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry on human and mouse samples. IZUMO1 (Izumo Sperm-Egg Fusion 1) is a type-I transmembrane glycoprotein first characterized on the equatorial segment of the acrosomal cap of mature spermatozoa, where it plays an indispensable role in gamete membrane fusion during fertilization. Genetic ablation in mouse models produces sperm that bind the oocyte plasma membrane normally but fail to fuse, resulting in complete male infertility. The protein pairs with the egg-surface receptor JUNO (also known as IZUMO1R or folate receptor 1), and this reagent supports studies of that interaction and downstream fertilization events.

This reagent is supplied as 100 µL of unconjugated rabbit IgG in a vial, refrigerated for routine bench handling, with aliquots recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles. Researchers apply it to investigate sperm capacitation, the acrosome reaction, contraceptive target screening, and diagnostic work-ups of idiopathic male-factor infertility, as well as to map IZUMO1 trafficking during spermatogenesis.
