The IYD gene encodes iodotyrosine deiodinase, an NADH-dependent reductase that salvages iodide by reductive dehalogenation of mono- and di-iodotyrosine. This enzymatic activity is central to iodine recycling during thyroxine and triiodothyronine catabolism, and loss-of-function variants in IYD cause iodotyrosine deiodinase deficiency, a rare form of congenital goitrous hypothyroidism. The unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent supplied by Antibodies.com was raised against the IYD target and validated for Western blot detection of the endogenous mouse protein in tissue and cell-line lysates. Investigators studying thyroid hormone metabolism, iodide economy, thyroid follicular biology, or congenital hypothyroid screening can apply the 200 µl aliquot to characterize IYD expression across mouse models, supporting read-outs such as band identity, regulation by TSH signaling, and changes in thyroid or peripheral tissues under iodine-restricted dietary conditions.
