Loss-of-function mutations in ITGB3 cause Glanzmann thrombasthenia, while overexpression has been linked to invasive and metastatic phenotypes in multiple solid tumors and to pathological neovascularization. The antibody is therefore a useful probe for studies of integrin signaling, vascular biology, and tumor cell behavior.

In practice, the reagent detects endogenous ITGB3 protein in cell or tissue lysates by Western blot under reducing conditions and reveals integrin β3 distribution in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections by IHC.
