ITGA8 (Integrin alpha 8) is a transmembrane receptor subunit that pairs with integrin beta 1 to form a heterodimer binding fibronectin, vitronectin, and related extracellular matrix ligands. It has well-characterized roles in kidney organogenesis, where loss-of-function studies link it to renal agenesis and defective ureteric bud branching, and in mesenchymal cell adhesion relevant to vascular and visceral smooth muscle biology. Investigators use antibodies against this target to explore fibrotic remodeling, myofibroblast differentiation, and nephron patterning in animal models.

This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 15 mM sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, packaged as a 100 µl vial intended for western blot detection of endogenous ITGA8 in cell lysates and tissue homogenates. The reagent has been validated against human, mouse, and rat samples, enabling cross-species comparison within a single project. For handling, store at -20°C in small aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, avoid prolonged room temperature exposure, and protect from light during use. The polyclonal composition allows recognition of multiple epitopes on the integrin alpha 8 chain, which is useful when probing denatured target in immunoblotting workflows.
